General Questions

What does Web Lite Translate do?
Web Lite Translations Inc. is an innovative software company that is constantly developing solutions to make information easier to manage. We provide the technology to allow website owners to seamlessly integrate multiple languages into their website without having to install any complex content management systems or worry about the complexities of maintaining multiple languages.
Why translate websites into other languages?

Studies show that people are more likely to buy from websites that are published in their native language. Customers who are fluent in English still prefer to be able to read information in their native language to ensure they are not missing any vital details. Only 30% of all internet users call English their first language[1]. That means, if your site is only in English, you may be alienating 70% of your potential customers.

What makes Web Lite's translation service better than other translation companies?
There are essentially 2 routes that one can take in translating a website:
  1. Use machine translation

With machine translation you can achieve multiple languages quite easily, as the translation is done by a computer. This method is affordable but the quality is generally quite poor compared to human translation. Machine translation is excellent for conveying a rough idea of the original text's meaning; however, it should not be used on a corporate website, lest your customers come to the conclusion that you have atrocious grammar skills.

  2. Maintain a separate copy

Most translation companies will ask for a copy of your website files, translate them into the target language, and send the files back to you. You are then responsible for keeping the translation in sync with the original when you make changes to the site. The initial translation is only about 25% of the total job of maintaining a multilingual website. The bulk of the work lies with the IT department to ensure the translations are up-to-date, and that users can easily find the appropriate translation for a particular piece of content.

This complexity is the very reason why many businesses and organizations choose not to convert their site into multiple languages.

Web Lite removes all of this complexity allowing you to focus on your website's content. We manage all of the translations and their integration with the web site. This strategy results in much lower costs and fewer difficulties.

How does Web Lite's system work?

Web Lite's technology provides a fresh new way to handle the website internationalization problem. We combine professional human translators with unique software to produce a simple, stream-lined process for managing translations. You no longer need an entire IT department to manage a multi-lingual site. You manage your website the same as always, and let us worry about the details of translation.

Deployment is easy; simply add a tiny snippet of HTML to your web site to accommodate the translation and you're ready to go. Users will automatically be shown their own language when they visit the site, and they can manually change their language preferences as well.

When you make changes to your web site, Web Lite's software automatically recognizes these changes and queues the translations for update.

This method of managing translations results in dramatically lower costs because:

  • There's no need for an IT department to manage the site
  • You are not managing multiple sites in parallel. Just one site, and Web Lite's software automatically handles the translation.
  • No duplicate translations. Web Lite's sophisticated translation memory technology mean translators never have to translate the same text twice - this means you only pay for the translations that are necessary.

Translation Questions

Are you creating a mirror site?
No. Most translation providers create a full copy of your website's files and translate them. This causes all kinds of difficulties and complexities when the original content is updated and the translations need to be changed accordingly. Web Lite, by contrast, uses advanced software techniques (not to be confused with machine translation), combined with quality human translators to dynamically layer the translated text over the original (or rather replace the original text). When changes are made to the original text, these changes are automatically detected by Web Lite and are retranslated accordingly. This results in much lower overall costs and a more pleasant user experience all around.
How long does it take to convert a website?
That depends on the size of the website. Smaller sites can be converted in less than 2 weeks, while larger, more complex sites may take as long as 90 days. Please contact us for an accurate assessment.
When I make changes to my web site, how long does it take for Web Lite to update the translations?
You'll receive an email within 24 hours to notify you of the change, and asking you to approve the re-translation. Once you have approved the change, the translations will be updated within 48 hours.
Which languages do you support?
We support thousands of language pairs. Please contact us to find out if your preferred languages are supported.
Do I have to notify Web Lite of changes to my web site?
No. Web Lite's cutting-edge technology automatically identifies changes to your source text and will notify you by email when changes are detected. Once you have approved a change, the translations will be updated within 48 hours by our professional translation team.
If I make changes to my website, do you need to retranslate the entire page?
No. Only the text that was changed needs to be retranslated.
I plan to change my website's look and feel. How will this affect my translations?

Web Lite's sophisticated technology will automatically detect these changes and update the translated versions. If you change the look of your website, Web Lite will automatically adapt by updating the translated versions to match exactly. If the text content is the same, then no changes will be made to the translated text. Web Lite will just automatically rearrange the translated versions to match the original.

This process is simple and seamless because Web Lite doesn't actually create a mirror of your site. It dynamically layers the translations over your original website leaving you with a hassle-free experience.
